Avalanche Pass and Avalanche Lake
Avalanche Lake is a narrow lake located in the Adirondack High Peaks. It sits between Mount Colden and Algonquin Peak, with Lake Colden to the south and Avalanche Pass to the north. The shear cliffs entering the lake make it a breathtaking place to visit.
There is a trail along the west shore of the lake, connecting Avalanche Pass with Lake Colden. The trail is rough and rugged, climbing over large boulders and traversing sheer cliffs on Hitch-Up Matildas. From near the south end of the lake there is an impressive view of the Trap Dike on Mount Colden.
